Farmers whose land was expropriated were entitled to fair compensation, commercial agriculture organisation Agri SA said on Friday.
President Lourie Bosman said there were misunderstandings about the willing buyer/willing seller principle where land claims were involved.

200 Goan families to get Gulf war compensation |
PANJIM, SEPT 8 — More than 200 Goan families will receive compensation from the United Nation Compensation Commission (UNCC) after almost 15 years following the 1991 Kuwait war.
The commissioner for NRI Affairs, Government of Goa, Eduardo Faleiro today said “the Ministry of External Affairs had informed him that 290 Goans had been awarded compensation, but the compensation could not be paid to the beneficiaries as their present address was not known.”

Sisters avoid jail in car crash scam |
Three sisters have avoided prison after becoming involved in a bogus compensation scam.
Recorder James Hill said he accepted that Nasreen Akhtar, 26, and her sisters Yasmin, 29, and Parveen, 27, had been pawns' in a scam to get compensation after a bump in Keighley last November.
He told them: "I am satisfied you came under the influence of somebody motivated by greed and dishonesty who influenced you to make the claim."
